Ramsgate Place Plan
In January 2023 Ramsgate was awarded £19.8m funding from central government to address the physical decline of its townscape and Royal Harbour.
Together, the proposals have the potential to break-down engrained barriers to accessing work, resulting income deprivation and health and well-being deficiencies.
As design work started on projects across the town,it rapidly became evident that things had changed.Heritage assets had further deteriorated, inflation hadcaused costs to increase and community needs hadevolved. The Council decided to initially implement projectcomponents that still met programme objectives.At the same time, JKA and transport consultant, PhilJones Associates were commissioned to prepare theRamsgate Place Plan. The purpose of the plan wasto take stock, re-allocate funding from discontinuedworkstreams and develop a movement framework thatwould connect the individual project locations throughan active travel network.
