The new outlet is more than just a shop. The space doubles up as a denim and leather workshop where customers can learn to tailor their own clothing with a craft jeans maker. Business owner Han Ates believes that a pair of jeans is for life and accordingly he carries out repairs and stocks a whole range of haberdashery spares, from prym rivets todenim zips.
Our spatial concept corresponds with Han’s business philosophy, which asserts that beauty is found in simple but perfectly formed things. The raw brick walls of the former coal store are complemented by furniture made from high quality materials including antique shop fittings, Turkish rugs and sewing machines. Lighting is carefully controlled to ensure that the interior and wares manifest prominently through the shopfront.
Slow fashion is about making considered choices. Blackhorse Lane Atelier provides the space required for such important life decisions as the purchase of a new pair of jeans.
